It was a rare Sunday, in which I was away from my congregation. I missed being at Shiloh today. But I received good reports of a blessed day.

I really missed my Bible Study Fellowship group today.

West Wilson preached both morning services. Thanks for your ministry of the word to the saints today.

Praise God for those who professed Christ and were added to the church today.

I am in Chicago.

I preached this morning for my friend, Romell Williams, who is celebrating 8 years of service to the Lilydale Progressive Baptist Church.

I preached “Built to Last” (Matt. 7:24-27) at the first service and “Living a Fruitful Life” (John 15:1-5) at the second service.

I spoke during Romell’s installation services 8 years ago. And it is great to see how God continues to bless this relationship between pastor and people.

It was encouraging to see the expressions of love the Lilydale congregation showed Romell and his family today.

The person who introduced me to Romell called him one of the best young preachers in the country. Time flies, doesn’t it? Romell and I would not be considered young preachers anymore.

This was a bounce-back weekend for all of my football teams.

The USC Trojans bounced back from its loss to Stanford by defeating Cal 27-9.

Boy, the NCAAF is no joke. LSU struggled and got leapfrogged by the Oregon Ducks. (This means there is still hope for the Trojans.)

The Dallas Cowboys defeated Tampa Bay 16-10. Okay, so the sky is not falling after all.

The Jacksonville Jaguars went into Indianapolis and defeated the Colts 22-17. Go Jags!

Last weekend, Sergio Martinez defeated Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr. in a lopsided 12-round decision. This week, the Nevada State Commission cited Chavez for a positive drug test. Nope, not performance enhancing drugs. Marijuana. Another black eye for boxing.

In other boxing news… Manny Pacquiao announced this week that he would take less money in a potential fight with Floyd Mayweather. And he would take a drug test, even the day of the fight. He also said that he thinks Mayweather is scared. Wow! Could we finally get a mega-fight? Or is Mayweather really scared?
