Sermon preparation is hard work. It involves 20 hours of prayer, labor, repentance, thanksgiving, and meditation. While preparation is hard work, so is recovery. Preaching takes something out of you physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. Preaching can be even more draining and discouraging when no one responds, so what do you do?

Here are seven things I recommend you do after the sermon is preached:

    1. Pray.
    2. Get healthy feedback.
    3. Don’t over analyze the sermon.
    4. Be on guard.
    5. Review the sermon manuscript or sermon notes.
    6. Detach yourself from the sermon.
    7. Rest.

     Questions

What do you think? What do you do after you preach? Which of these recommendations do you find most helpful?
